Tide Receding
Neskowin S.R.A., Oregon
This long exposure records the end of a day on the edge of our continent. The fingers of the Pacific roll down the curtain of night, retreating with the sun to start a new day on the other side of the earth. Meanwhile, the moon rises with the night, reflecting a white streak in the foreground, and calls forth the black figures emerging from the retreating waves. These ghostly shapes are 2,000 year old wood stumps, once preserved under the seabed, which now haunt Neskowin during low tide.
